Constructed Commons
Constructed Commons is a collection of low-tech, open-design domestic objects using construction waste from the Malsaña neighbourhood in Madrid. In Spain, 40% of all waste per year is generated by the construction industry (2024). With the construction industry contributing significant amounts of waste per year, Constructed Commons aims to promote the idea of re-use of construction waste, to the general public, in accessible waste. To do so, all of the pieces designed the following simple & accesible tools; a handsaw, battery-powered screw drivers, manual screwdrivers, zipties, bungee cords, hand-mixed cement, and electrical wiring from a dollar store. Additionally, instruction manuals were produced and published online at the Constructed Commons website for anyone to download and use for free.
